A Tattoo Artist Named Spider.

Everyone loves to sit and relax, right? Well imagine sitting for 12 hours straight. With a needle going into your skin. That's what one client had to go through when Spider tattooed what would be his longest continuous session he's ever done. He started young at age 13, and he knew that he had found his passion in the art of tattooing. It wasn't until the age of 31 that he actually became professional, and after bouncing between 6 different shops, he now owns his own. Clients come from as far as Chicago to get their tattoos done and he's very proud of the business he receives every day, whether he does one tattoo or twenty.

Field Trip to Old Sacramento!

Yesterday photo students from all campuses met up to explore Old Sac from a photography standpoint. It was a little bit frustrating when you couldn't get to certain places and take the picture the way you see it in your head, but it was a great place to get a feel for what you might like shooting best. It might have been overwhelming with so many options but luckily we had already thought about what we wanted to try and focus on. It was really fun to get to see the other students work and see how they view the world and how they capture their subjects.

Chalk Photography!!!

Today's assignment was to draw something in chalk and then incorporate yourself into the picture. At first it seemed that picking a design to draw would be the hardest but it actually turned out to be the easiest part. The hard part was when everybody tried to to find a way to fit in with the ice cream we drew but we figured it out and it was a fun process for everybody.

Panning (but not for gold)

Panning was definitely a lot easier than it sounds, and the pictures come out looking super cool. Plus, nobody flipped us off!

#FormalPortraitsForTheWin

Formal portraits today!! It's a lot a different than environmental portraits because you don't have the background to work with, and you really have to get the settings right to make sure you're showing your subject in the best way possible. Without the background, all the focus is on the subject and that makes just a tad harder to get an image that both you and your subject are happy with. Once you get going however, everybody loosens up and starts to enjoy it. They start to mess with different angles and positions and poses, it becomes something fun for everybody.

Free choice photo assignment.

Today was a lot of fun! There was more time to take pictures and explore the areas around our school without set assignments to try and complete so I was surprised at the pictures I was able to take(:

Portrait day

Today was  portrait day!! At first it was a little awkward, no one was sure where to start, where to stand, or who to take pictures of but after a few shots, everyone loosened up and didn't mind so much that there were pictures being taken of them. We walked all around, making jokes and snapping our photos of each other.

Black and White Shooting Assignment

So today in photography, we had to manually shoot our pictures. At first, it seemed too complicated, with all the different things you can adjust and play around with. But after quite a few test shots, it was a lot less scary. Figuring out if it was too dark or not dark enough didn't seem like such a tedious thing to do.  My classmates and I spent the allotted time laughing and helping each other and of course, taking pictures!
